Easyfour Pol is a combination vaccine that offers protection against three serious diseases: diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis (whooping cough), along with Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib). It is widely used in pediatric immunization programs, providing essential immunity to children with a single shot. It contains the Whole-Cell Pertussis (wP) component, making it a painful combination vaccine, along with D, T, and Hib components—total 4 antigens.
How It Works
Easyfour Pol contains inactivated components of the bacteria that cause these diseases. When administered, it stimulates the immune system to develop antibodies, offering protection against future infections without causing the actual diseases.
Administration
Primary Series: Typically administered as a series of three doses, starting at 6 weeks/2 months of age, with subsequent doses at 1-month intervals—2, 3, and 4 months of age. Since it includes the Hib component, there is no need to give a separate Hib vaccine during the primary series.
Booster: The first booster dose is usually given at 16-18 months of age (1 year after the primary vaccination during the second year of life). Since it includes Hib, it ensures adequate booster protection against Hib-related infections. The second booster is given between 5-6 years of age to ensure continued protection against diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis.
Administration Site: Given as an intramuscular injection, usually in the upper thigh for infants or the upper arm for older children.
Side Effects
Common side effects may include:
Pain or swelling at the injection site
Mild fever
Irritability
Fatigue
Severe reactions are extremely rare.
Pregnancy and Lactation
Pregnancy: Not for adults. Not applicable, as it is intended for infants and young children. Lactation: Not for adults. Safe for breastfeeding mothers to administer to their infants.
Minimum Age Group
Minimum Age: Approved for use in infants starting at 6 weeks old. Maximum Age: 6 years
Contraindications
Allergic Reactions: Not recommended for individuals with severe allergies to any component of the vaccine.
Severe Illness: Vaccination should be postponed in cases of acute, severe febrile illness.
Easyfour Pol is a key component of routine immunization schedules, offering essential protection against multiple diseases in a single injection. Its comprehensive coverage makes it a preferred choice for safeguarding children's health. Always consult healthcare providers for detailed vaccination schedules and personalized advice.
