BIOVAC TCV, from Dr Reddy’s and available only at Vaccine Panda, is a WHO and IAP prequalified Typhoid Vi Conjugate vaccine. It protects against typhoid fever caused by Salmonella Typhi and is recommended for children and adults (6 months–65 years), especially travelers to endemic areas. The vaccine contains Vi capsular polysaccharide conjugated to tetanus toxoid, creating a strong T-cell immune response and long-lasting protection, starting within 2–3 weeks. Unlike older vaccines, it offers durable immunity. Note: it does not protect against Salmonella Paratyphi or non-typhoid strains, and protection is not 100%.
